About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills throughout the blood collection process
  • Collaborate with the team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of donations
  • Follow safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations for delivery to hospitals
  • Ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and transfusion-safety standards
  • Drive Red Cross vehicles when required
  • Set up and tear down equipment at donation sites
  • Work variable schedules that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
  • Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
  • Ability to work as part of a team setting up and tearing down mobile blood-drive equipment
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Prior leadership experience is preferred
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches
