About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills throughout the blood collection process
Collaborate with the team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities
Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of donations
Follow safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations for delivery to hospitals
Ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and transfusion-safety standards
Drive Red Cross vehicles when required
Set up and tear down equipment at donation sites
Work variable schedules that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
Good manual dexterity
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
Ability to work as part of a team setting up and tearing down mobile blood-drive equipment
Basic computer skills are required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience is preferred
Prior leadership experience is preferred
Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches
