About the role
- Serve as the Face of the Red Cross to maximize presence and connectivity in the community
- Manage a portfolio of strategic relationships with local elected officials and key community leaders and stakeholders
- Develop sustained community relationships to ensure capacity to achieve region mission goals
- Lead chapter in supporting achievement of region revenue targets and meet assigned individual fundraising targets
- Support mission capacity building: volunteer engagement, blood collection goals, and community engagement mission goals
- Leverage board committees and community volunteer leaders to meet established goals
- Develop and manage the chapter board to mobilize support and resources and ensure board meets published guidance and giving expectations
- Develop, lead, and manage community volunteer leaders to recruit volunteers and support mission capacity building
- Inform regional leadership, volunteers, and staff of community needs and perceptions and communicate Red Cross programs and capacity needs
- Serve as member of the Elected Officials Liaison Network and support disaster responses locally, regionally and nationally
- Report to the Regional Chief Executive Officer and serve as a member of the Region Leadership Team
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual attainment of revenue and blood collection goals with portfolio weighted toward blood collection
Requirements
- Four-year college degree (BS/BA) in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Finance or non-profit administration or equivalent experience required
- Prefer Master’s degree in community organization, public or business administration or non-profit management
- Minimum of 5 years related experience
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good and timely judgment in complex situations
- Demonstrated ability for strong communications and influencing skills along with public speaking and writing
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain community relationships/partnerships
- Proven experience in influencing others and building relationships
- Experience working in an environment requiring flexibility and managing change
- Proficient with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Familiarity with federal state and local employment laws
- Current valid driver\'s license and good driving record required
- Ability to travel within communities served and region; may deploy to disasters outside chapter for up to 2 weeks
