About the role
- Lead the strategy, design, and programming of AMA’s professional community events, including the Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education, Executive Marketer Summit, and expanding to future flagship gatherings.
- Translate AMA’s strategic goals and audience insights into event concepts, content frameworks, and experiences that drive measurable impact.
- Design gatherings—from intimate sessions to large-scale convenings—that foster authentic connection, community learning, and shared purpose.
- Serve as the program lead, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, high-quality experiences that balance creativity, strategy, and operational excellence.
- Ensure every event upholds AMA’s standards of inclusion, accessibility, and fiscal responsibility.
- Measure impact through key performance indicators, translate insights into actionable improvements, and contribute to the evolution of AMA’s event portfolio through innovation and new formats.
- Develop and curate event programming that reflects emerging marketing trends, thought leadership, and community priorities.
- Continuously evolve programming based on audience feedback, performance data, and changing community needs.
- Identify and manage diverse speakers, facilitators, and contributors to ensure content quality, relevance, and inclusion.
- Lead volunteer planning committees to co-create content and engagement strategies that align with event goals and audience needs.
- Design cohesive agendas and session experiences that maximize learning, participation, and connection.
- Partner with Marketing to develop storytelling and promotional strategies that elevate event visibility and engagement.
- Facilitate advisory groups and planning committees, creating purposeful collaboration that advances AMA’s mission and reinforces the value of belonging.
- Extend engagement beyond live events through digital activations, community discussions, and follow-up experiences that sustain connection.
- Embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility principles into every stage of planning and execution, ensuring AMA events reflect and serve the diversity of the marketing community.
Requirements
- 5+ years of program design, content development, and speaker curation, with a track record of delivering high-quality, relevant, and inclusive agendas that apply principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- 3+ years collaborating with and guiding volunteer leaders, with the ability to build trust, foster alignment, and support purposeful co-creation.
- 3+ years leading event strategy and execution, including ownership of multi-day conferences or similarly complex, high-impact programs.
- Experience evolving or launching new programs based on audience insights, strategic priorities, or emerging needs.
