About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate the origin and cause of homeowner property claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation units, other adjusters, public personnel, and other parties
- Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed
- Handle claims on a good faith basis
- Handle first-party and third-party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements
- Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters
- Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed
- Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply them to assigned losses
- Provide parties with the claim process and status, answer questions, or redirect inquiries to other areas
- Complete other assignments, job duties, or projects based on skills, achievements, or experience
- Report to the Property Claim Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be located within the North and East Columbus, Ohio metro area
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
- Demonstrated experience handling first-party and third-party, multi-line claims across operating territories, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims, or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages, or equivalent knowledge
- Solid knowledge and understanding of each phase of the claim handling process, or equivalent knowledge
- Experience with Xactimate preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Acceptable driving record required
- Must obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required
- Ability to travel up to 50%
- Ability to perform catastrophe duty up to 75% as applicable
- Ability to conduct on-site inspections and work outdoors in varied temperatures, precipitation, wind, noise, hazardous conditions, poor ventilation, and confined spaces
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and similar structures
- Ability to move into different positions in various environments
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions
- Offer contingent on applicable background checks
- Offer contingent on signing a non-disclosure agreement for proprietary information, trade secrets, and inventions
