About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate the origin and cause of complex or highly complex homeowner property/casualty claims
  • Determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settle claims
  • Contact insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, special investigation units, other adjusters, and public personnel
  • Identify complex issues and seek assistance as needed
  • Handle third-party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements on a good-faith basis
  • Conduct on-site inspections when needed and evaluate damages
  • Negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters
  • Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files
  • Interpret policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages
  • Make independent decisions, self-supervise files, and recognize when assistance is needed
  • Provide parties with claim process and status updates; answer questions or redirect inquiries
  • Mentor less experienced adjusters and serve as a subject matter expert
  • Complete other assignments, duties, or projects as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
  • Demonstrated experience handling third-party, multi-line claims
  • Demonstrated experience handling simple to moderately complex claims
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements
  • Extensive knowledge of each phase of the claim-handling process
  • Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as required
  • Ability to work primarily from home, proximate to an office location within approximately 35–50 miles
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Successful applicable background checks
  • Signing a non-disclosure agreement for proprietary information, trade secrets, and inventions
  • Sponsorship will not be considered unless specified in the posting
