About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage civil litigation for American Family and our insureds, following established guidelines and the highest ethical standards
Analyze files as litigation progresses as well as risk to the company
Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary
Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation activities
Conduct necessary research in support of drafting activities
Advocate client position in all forums
Negotiate effectively in the resolution of all issues
Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how they affect various policy provisions
May develop areas of specialty practice

Requirements

What you’ll need

Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses
Demonstrated litigation experience
Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice
Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law
Admitted to the IL state bar
Juris Doctor
