About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage civil litigation for American Family and our insureds, following established guidelines and the highest ethical standards
- Analyze files as litigation progresses as well as risk to the company
- Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary
- Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance litigation activities
- Conduct necessary research in support of drafting activities
- Advocate client position in all forums
- Negotiate effectively in the resolution of all issues
- Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyze how they affect various policy provisions
- May develop areas of specialty practice
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
- Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses
- Demonstrated litigation experience
- Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice
- Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law
- Admitted to the IL state bar
- Juris Doctor
