About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Executes assumed reinsurance catastrophe risk management tasks and projects
  • Will lead and design projects and solutions to solve assumed reinsurance catastrophe risk business problems
  • Propose solutions to business questions and monitor progress of projects
  • Report to the Head of Reinsurance Pricing & Analytics, AmFamRe
  • Performs assumed reinsurance catastrophe modeling analyses using catastrophe modeling software
  • Communicates key model fundamentals to peers and other functions
  • Develops analytical tools, reports, and data to understand impacts of natural disasters to the business
  • Partners with team members to provide catastrophe related insights and recommendations
  • Supports live catastrophe event response with exposure summaries and loss estimates

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service
  • Solid experience with catastrophe management software and catastrophe peril models
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of natural catastrophe risk and its application to the reinsurance space and catastrophe modeling
  • Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis
  • Solid understanding of geospatial software tools and data
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated experience using large amounts of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Demonstrated experience making independent decisions and in project management methodologies, practices, techniques.
  • Solid knowledge with managing data to scale using data summarization, query and analysis software and tools
