About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise and assist management on safety and health, public safety, and S&H event prevention policies and procedures
- Disseminate safety and health information throughout assigned areas
- Coordinate implementation of safety and health programs
- Conduct safety and health observations and visitations
- Provide guidance on safety and accident prevention to management
- Prepare and advise on programs and materials for S&H event prevention meetings and conferences
- Observe AEP personnel, tools, equipment, and work practices for compliance with safe procedures
- Advise and assist in S&H event analysis and serve as a resource to event analysis committees
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations
- Review and assist with contractor safety-regulation adherence inspections
- Promote and enforce Company S&H event Prevention and Safety and Health programs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene/health or relevant field; OR Associate degree in relevant field with two years’ experience in related electric utility field operations; OR High School diploma/GED with four years in S&H administration, field experience or related electric utility operations experience
- 2 years’ experience in S&H or electric utility operations experience
- Proficient oral and written skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to undertake daily travel and occasional overnight travel
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence
