About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform highly technical estimates for transmission line and substation projects, including very complex projects
  • Comply with defined project scoping and estimating procedures
  • Gather and integrate estimate and cost information to build and update master estimating cost models and databases
  • Develop criteria for estimation and use of project and portfolio contingency
  • Work with project management, engineering, planning, construction, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and continuously improve scoping and estimating processes
  • Mentor and train less experienced Project Estimators
  • Lead teams and projects to successful conclusion
  • Organize project activities, delegate project tasks, set team requirements and expectations, manage deliverables, and hold team members accountable
  • Evaluate team member skill sets and capabilities to assure project success
  • Apply construction methodologies
  • Work extended hours when needed to accomplish assigned tasks and meet project requirements and schedules

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 or more years of related engineering experience for Engineer Sr (SG8)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program for Engineer Sr (SG8)
  • Alternatively, 2 years of related engineering experience with a master's degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program for Engineer Sr (SG8)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology is acceptable with a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Bachelor's degree in non-ABET engineering plus a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET-accredited bachelor's program is acceptable
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred for Engineer Sr
  • 8 or more years of related engineering experience with a bachelor's degree for Engineering Principal (SG9)
  • Alternatively, 6 years of related engineering experience with a master's or PhD for Engineering Principal (SG9)
  • PE registration is preferred for Engineering Principal unless waived by the organization's EVP
  • Leadership, team building, meeting management, communication, conflict management, scope management, strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment, prioritization, and business acumen
  • Understanding of engineering and design, procurement, contracting, estimating, construction, and test and checkout procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methodologies
  • Ability to work extended hours when required
  • PE credentials obtained in Puerto Rico must align with NCEES standards if applicable
