About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform environmental inspections under close supervision within the assigned region using AEP approved forms and methods within regulatory time frames.
  • Communicate deviations appropriately.
  • Collect data as needed to support environmental compliance reporting using AEP approved methods.
  • Prepare and submit reports as assigned.
  • Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.
  • Provide support during environmental compliance reviews.
  • Effectively communicate environmental compliance issues to appropriate internal parties.
  • Maintain all environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Environmental Tech Assc(Grade 4) Experience: No experience required, but preferred.
  • Highly Preferred: Preference will be given to those with experience in Coal Combustion Residual Surface Impoundments and Landfills and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Environmental Tech (Grade 5) Basic Qualifications Experience: Minimum of three years of environmental experience with an associate’s degree. No experience required, but preferred, with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have at least an awareness level knowledge of the inspection requirements for programs listed in the job summary above.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in Coal Combustion Residual Surface Impoundments and Landfills and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures.
  • Travel time is considered 90% within the assigned region and may include overnight stays on occasion.
  • Availability for weekend on call coverage to assist in managing environmental needs (on Rare occasions only).
