About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Collects and abstracts data from patient medical records, especially those related to stroke care.
Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the abstracted data.
Adheres to specific clinical data abstraction guidelines and standards, such as those set by the American Heart Association.
Enters the abstracted data into a database or registry, often using specialized software. This includes maintaining and updating the data as necessary.
Participates in quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity.
Remains informed about developments in stroke care and data management to ensure ongoing competency in the role.

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 2 years of recent GWTG STK and/or CSTK abstraction experience.
Ability to independently abstract GWTG STK and/or CSTK cases using registry specifications and clinical documentation.
Strong understanding of healthcare quality reporting, registry abstraction, clinical documentation review, and medical record interpretation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through.
Comfort working in multiple EHRs, registry platforms, vendor tools, and data collection systems as assigned.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Contractors must have high-speed secure internet, a PC or laptop, and at least two monitors.
Preferred: Experience using the GWTG registry platform, CSTK abstraction tools, vendor platforms, quality reporting system, and/or related data collection tools.
Experience with IRR, QA review, audit validation, and/or abstraction accuracy review.
