Manager III, Business Applications
American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)Manager for Business Applications overseeing design, implementation, and support of computer applications. Leading teams and projects to enhance business processes in marine and offshore classification.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Meet and confer with ABS Management and IMS Application Management to ensure that system improvement and expansion projects are identified, prioritized, staffed and scheduled to meet company's objectives.
- Responsible for stewarding results of detailed plans and operating budgets associated with projects.
- Prepares and delivers both high-level and detailed presentations to ABS management and user groups.
- Manages multiple concurrent projects and ensures their completion within agreed-upon schedules and budgets.
- Provides technical review advice to IMS management and staff, and as necessary to end-user management and user community.
- Works with Human Resources and outside vendors to obtain necessary staffing.
- Selects and supervises staff; prepares performance appraisals and provides timely performance feedback to staff members.
- Handles conflict situations and resolves differences.
- Communicates major status of projects, personnel, customer concerns, etc., to IMS Management.
- Keeps informed of data processing industry related developments and products via contacts with outside vendors, organizations, and periodicals; communicates IMS system requirements and directions to professional and technical industry associations and vendors.
- Reviews and ensures conformance with standards, policies and procedures involved with or related to the delivery of IMS services.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent, preferably in data processing or a related field, from an accredited university or equivalent industry experience.
- An advanced degree or comparable on-the-job experience is also required.
- A minimum of five (5) years' previous related experience.
- Proven experience in Systems Development environment with project management responsibility for successful medium-scale (two to three year) projects.
- Administrative responsibility for three to five professionals.
- Able to work in organizations to support services provided to internal/external clients.
- Financial reporting for capital projects and operations expenses.
- Clarity and conciseness in oral and written communications; demonstrated capability to produce effective presentations for delivery to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to achieve process changes and departmental goals within a matrixed organization; ability to communicate.
- Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.
