About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supports the Accounts Receivable function and is responsible for day-to-day accounts receivable operations, including invoicing, cash application, collections support, reconciliation, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition across AAFP programs, products, and services.
  • Applies established GAAP and revenue recognition guidance.
  • Partners with Accounting and IT on process and system improvements.
  • Uses AAFP-approved technologies, including automation and AI-enabled tools, to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Researches applicable ASC 606 guidance when complex or unusual accounting matters arise and recommends the appropriate accounting and revenue treatment for review by senior accounting staff.
  • Designed for a self-starter with a solid accounting foundation who will deepen expertise in ASC 606, revenue recognition, and accounting systems over time, with mentoring and oversight from senior accounting staff.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
  • 2–4 years of accounts receivable, billing, collections, and general accounting experience.
  • Hands-on reconciliation experience, including deferred revenue analysis.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and an accounting/ERP or membership system.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, high attention to detail, and a commitment to data integrity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to adapt as standards, systems, and technologies evolve.
  • Willingness to use AAFP-approved AI and automation tools in accordance with governance, security, and control standards.
