About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analyses for assigned projects
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, adopted standards, OSHA, and Ameresco standards
  • Verify PPE compliance and employee training
  • Conduct safety audits, project inspections, and follow-up inspections
  • Provide safety training for project personnel
  • Review subcontractor safety qualifications and attend pre-construction meetings
  • Create and evaluate activity hazard reviews
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans
  • Work with project supervision to create safety solutions
  • Foster a positive safety culture
  • Maintain required safety certifications
  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings for project staff
  • Produce safety activity reports
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and management
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. degree in Occupational Safety & Health Engineering or a similar field
  • Minimum 5 years of construction industry safety experience on similar projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate safety within a project team
  • At least 24 hours of formal safety training annually for the past 5 years
  • Competent person training in excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, hazardous energy, confined space, and health hazard recognition/evaluation/control
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification
  • EM385-1-1 40-Hour Safety Certification
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification
  • NFPA 70E certification for flash training
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
  • Organized, proactive, and experienced in OSHA compliance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills and proper grammar
  • Ability to travel frequently
  • Ability to communicate professionally and positively
