About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform system planning and circuit analysis of distribution circuits 69kV and below and develop remediation plans
- Plan, design, cost estimate, budget, and manage electric-grid projects
- Provide engineering assistance and technical support to field engineering representatives and Region personnel
- Perform power quality and troubleshooting analysis for customer facilities
- Meet with customers, architects, contractors, and other contacts to determine required actions
- Provide information regarding rates, lighting, wiring, NEC and NESC code interpretations, and service requirements
- Engineer and design electric extensions or modifications for customer service requests
- Determine additional-load impacts on the existing electric distribution system
- Secure permits and rights-of-way and perform post-construction follow-up
- Prepare load analyses for distribution substations and feeders and develop corrective-action plans
- Use company computer systems including Maximo, MV90, EADMS, CSS, Synergy, Load Analysis, OAS, and Byers
- Work with Region team members to improve safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction
- Contribute to department and Region goals
- Identify and implement process and operational improvements
- Provide engineering support for solar projects and perform witness tests
- Respond to emergency call-outs for storm restoration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required; Electrical Engineering preferred, with other engineering disciplines acceptable depending on qualifications
- Completion of power-related college courses preferred
- E.I.T. certification or P.E. registration preferred
- Electrical engineering and project management experience preferred; recent graduates considered
- Self-starter with attention to detail
- Problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and human-relations skills
- Good analytical skills
- Advanced computer skills
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
