About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform system planning and circuit analysis of distribution circuits 69kV and below and develop remediation plans
Plan, design, cost estimate, budget, and manage electric-grid projects
Provide engineering assistance and technical support to field engineering representatives and Region personnel
Perform power quality and troubleshooting analysis for customer facilities
Meet with customers, architects, contractors, and other contacts to determine required actions
Provide information regarding rates, lighting, wiring, NEC and NESC code interpretations, and service requirements
Engineer and design electric extensions or modifications for customer service requests
Determine additional-load impacts on the existing electric distribution system
Secure permits and rights-of-way and perform post-construction follow-up
Prepare load analyses for distribution substations and feeders and develop corrective-action plans
Use company computer systems including Maximo, MV90, EADMS, CSS, Synergy, Load Analysis, OAS, and Byers
Work with Region team members to improve safety, reliability, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction
Contribute to department and Region goals
Identify and implement process and operational improvements
Provide engineering support for solar projects and perform witness tests
Respond to emergency call-outs for storm restoration

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required; Electrical Engineering preferred, with other engineering disciplines acceptable depending on qualifications
Completion of power-related college courses preferred
E.I.T. certification or P.E. registration preferred
Electrical engineering and project management experience preferred; recent graduates considered
Self-starter with attention to detail
Problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and human-relations skills
Good analytical skills
Advanced computer skills
Adaptability and flexibility
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
