About the role
- Managing customer Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects
- Being technically knowledgeable regarding engineering on utility distribution electric lines
- Representing the Company as a single point of contact with customers, developers, and DER installers regarding service requests
- Providing DER engineering services on customer projects including processing pre-applications, applications, and payments
- Managing customer applications to meet with the ICC time requirements
- Providing excellent customer service to contribute to the customer satisfaction goals of Ameren Illinois
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of the Company’s policies and DER requirements to ensure customers are educated
- Understanding all of the key components of the Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) to provide excellent customer service
- Understanding the Illinois Power Agency Adjustable Block lottery process to ensure the correct procedures are followed
- Obtaining all required customer approvals and executing Interconnection Agreements when necessary
- Coordinating with Field Engineering to ensure projects are designed in a timeframe to meet in service requirements on DER projects
- Processing and completing jobs using the Power Clerk system and other Ameren resources
- Maintaining a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with the Company’s external and internal customers
- Work may occur in a field or office environment and the Distribution Design Associate will be subject to emergency call-out requests
Requirements
- Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical field required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management or related technical field preferred
- Three years relevant utility industry experience (e.g., design or construction experience on electric or gas distribution lines, experience with distributed generation interconnections like solar and wind, field operational experience working with utility contractors, customer representatives or construction personnel) may be considered without required Associates degree
- Knowledge of electric and gas standards, procedures and distribution systems; attention to detail; strong customer focus; decisiveness and good judgment; continuous improvement and quality mindset and approach; good written and verbal communication skills
