About the role
- Design, analyse, and optimise mechanical systems and components within Gazelle's platforms
- Develop CAD models and perform calculations to optimise mechanical component designs
- Conduct structural, thermal, stress, and fatigue analyses using engineering software tools
- Oversee fabrication and installation of mechanical components and provide technical guidance during fabrication
- Evaluate and test materials for marine/offshore applications and advise on material selection
- Work closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure producibility and quality
- Monitor and manage appraisal comments of engineering deliverables between contractors and Gazelle technical team
- Perform performance evaluations through testing, simulation, and data analysis and propose design improvements
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and certification requirements and prepare DNV approval documentation
- Provide technical guidance to project teams and implement project management methodologies to meet schedules
- Maintain compliance with company safety and quality procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design or analysis within the renewable energy sector (preferably offshore wind)
- Experience in complex engineering projects in the marine environment (beneficial)
- Experience in fabrication and construction yards (beneficial)
- Good technical knowledge of CAD systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
- Good working awareness of codes and standards in FOW or similar industry
- Familiarity with advanced materials and manufacturing processes
- Spatial imagination and methodical understanding
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Multidisciplinary skills and cross-functional knowledge (especially Materials and CAD modelling) (beneficial)
- Good interpersonal skills, team player, enthusiasm and engagement
- Innovative thinking and keeping up to date with technology
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Fluency in English required; Portuguese beneficial but not mandatory
- Willingness to be based in Viana do Castelo office with minimum 3 days/week in office (ideally 4-5 days)
