About the role
- Purpose of Position: Amalgamated Bank is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Senior Manager to join our Finance Department.
- This role will report directly to the Assistant Controller and play a critical part in the Bank’s financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and allowance for credit losses (ACL) processes.
- The main role is to oversee and ensure the daily accounting production for the loan and Allowance for Credit Loss (ACL) accounting functions is performed timely and in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards.
- Other responsibilities include ensuring integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements; provide technical expertise on significant accounting issues; monitor and strengthen internal controls and related documentation; ensure policy/regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification and MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in loan accounting, ACL, financial reporting, or a related field within the banking industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, regulatory requirements, and ASC 326.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing internal controls and process improvements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software is desirable; Experience with Axiom, Workiva and Abrigo Sageworks, or industry equivalents, are preferred.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management, auditors, and regulatory agencies; manager experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to social responsibility and ethical banking practices.
