About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and support a team of Property Adjusters, setting clear expectations and providing day-to-day guidance
  • Assign and oversee claims to ensure timely, fair, and high-quality outcomes for members
  • Mentor adjusters through coaching, audits, and one-on-one development conversations
  • Handle escalations and sensitive files with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Ensure claims practices meet legislative, regulatory, and financial requirements
  • Approve reserves, settlements, denials, and use of experts where appropriate
  • Prepare, execute, and continuously improve AMA’s annual catastrophe response plan
  • Collaborate closely with Claims Management, fellow supervisors, vendors, and internal partners
  • Monitor performance metrics and vendor effectiveness, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive claims handling experience, including at least 2 years in Property Claims
  • Post-secondary education
  • Insurance designation completed or in progress; CIP, FCIP, and CRM preferred
  • Strong knowledge of property policy wordings, building construction, and claims legislation
  • Experience with estimating tools such as Xactimate preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance operating systems
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through busy, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to motivate, coach, and support a diverse team
  • Calm, confident, and thoughtful when navigating escalations or high-severity claims
  • Organized and adaptable during fluctuating catastrophe-event volumes
  • Fair and transparent decision-making with strong accountability
