About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support a team of Property Adjusters, setting clear expectations and providing day-to-day guidance
- Assign and oversee claims to ensure timely, fair, and high-quality outcomes for members
- Mentor adjusters through coaching, audits, and one-on-one development conversations
- Handle escalations and sensitive files with professionalism and sound judgment
- Ensure claims practices meet legislative, regulatory, and financial requirements
- Approve reserves, settlements, denials, and use of experts where appropriate
- Prepare, execute, and continuously improve AMA’s annual catastrophe response plan
- Collaborate closely with Claims Management, fellow supervisors, vendors, and internal partners
- Monitor performance metrics and vendor effectiveness, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of progressive claims handling experience, including at least 2 years in Property Claims
- Post-secondary education
- Insurance designation completed or in progress; CIP, FCIP, and CRM preferred
- Strong knowledge of property policy wordings, building construction, and claims legislation
- Experience with estimating tools such as Xactimate preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance operating systems
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through busy, high-pressure situations
- Ability to motivate, coach, and support a diverse team
- Calm, confident, and thoughtful when navigating escalations or high-severity claims
- Organized and adaptable during fluctuating catastrophe-event volumes
- Fair and transparent decision-making with strong accountability
