About the role
- Responsible for all financial transactions and oversight of the hotel's general ledger operations
- Efficiently run the Accounting department in line with company standards while meeting guest and owner expectations
- Prepare and review all journal vouchers, month-end reports and reconciliations
- Review preliminary financial statements with Finance team and lead monthly financial reviews and presentations
- Supervise Accounting staff and the hotel's Information Technology functions including coaching, interviewing, training and performance evaluations
- Manage on-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis
- Handle hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting and cash management
- Systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings and full P&L responsibility
- Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance and complete the year-end audit process
- Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers and respond to auditor requests
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and analyze variances with department staff
- Assist General Manager with special reporting and analysis projects and present financial data to ownership and company home office
- Fully and solely responsible for hotel accounting compliance as mandated by State and Federal government
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 5 years or more of progressive Accounting experience, preferably in a hotel
- Experience supervising Accounting staff members
- Prior MICROS, Unifocus, various PMS systems (Opera and PMS)
- Accounting degree required
- Experience with SOX compliance and year-end audits
- Experience managing hotel on-site accounting functions, budgets, and cash management
