About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee ground-up commercial construction projects across North Carolina from preconstruction through final closeout
- Build and maintain project schedules, budgets, scopes, subcontractor timelines, procurement plans, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate subcontractors, field teams, vendors, inspectors, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders to keep projects moving
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, proposals, change orders, and project documentation for accuracy and execution readiness
- Track project costs, approve invoices, manage change orders, and identify budget or scope risks before they impact project performance
- Lead regular project meetings with field teams, subcontractors, clients, and leadership to resolve issues and maintain accountability
- Monitor quality, safety, schedule, permitting, inspections, and code compliance across assigned commercial job sites
- Support procurement, material coordination, long-lead item tracking, and vendor communication to prevent project delays
- Maintain clear project records, status updates, punch lists, closeout documentation, and owner-facing reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience with direct ownership of ground-up or new build projects
- Experience managing commercial construction projects in North Carolina or similar regional markets
- Strong understanding of commercial construction schedules, budgets, subcontractor scopes, drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, permitting, inspections, and closeout requirements
- Experience working with subcontractors, superintendents, vendors, inspectors, architects, engineers, owners, and client-facing project stakeholders
- Proficiency with construction project management tools, scheduling software, spreadsheets, and digital documentation platforms
- Ability to manage multiple active projects while maintaining strong communication, accountability, and field visibility
- Must have direct project ownership experience, not only assistant project management or project coordination experience
- Ground-up commercial construction experience required; candidates with only residential, renovation, civil, or service work experience will not be the best fit.
