About the role

  • Review complex individual, partnership, S-corporation, and corporate tax returns prepared by internal and offshore staff
  • Detect technical inaccuracies, compliance exposures, and overlooked tax planning opportunities
  • Lead proactive tax planning initiatives to optimize client outcomes
  • Oversee workflow efficiency and improve internal review systems
  • Mentor and develop junior and remote team members
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients on advanced tax matters
  • Review and adjust QuickBooks financials to ensure tax accuracy and compliance readiness
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine turnaround times and quality control standards
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making and firm-wide process enhancements

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and finalizing tax returns (not solely preparation)
  • Strong technical proficiency in Canopy, Drake, and/or UltraTax (Thomson Reuters)
  • Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Experience operating within smaller accounting firms preferred
  • Strong analytical judgment and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage responsibilities independently without heavy oversight
  • Comfortable in a hybrid, process-driven environment
  • Leadership mindset with focus on efficiency and scalable systems
  • CPA license or active CPA eligibility (preferred)
  • Experience supervising offshore or distributed teams (preferred)
  • Background in small to mid-sized firms serving entrepreneurial clients (preferred)
  • Prior exposure to workflow automation or system refinement initiatives (preferred)
