About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and own frameworks, tooling, and CI/CD infrastructure for Alpaca’s engineers.
  • Write Go, design automated test frameworks, and work with application code and Kubernetes.
  • Redefine how AI is used to enhance quality and automate testing coverage.
  • Design and build automated test frameworks across REST and gRPC API.
  • Accelerate test generation using AI and LLM-based tooling.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Google Cloud Build.
  • Conduct load, stress, and scalability tests to ensure platform demand handling.
  • Introduce chaos engineering practices for resilience experiments.
  • Standardize tooling and infrastructure for improved developer experience.
  • Collaborate with teams to raise test coverage, reliability, and speed.
  • Mentor product engineers to promote a culture of quality and improvement.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer building and maintaining production systems.
  • Written code in strongly typed languages with at least 1 year of experience with Go.
  • Fluent with AI-assisted engineering and LLM-based tools.
  • Built and maintained CI pipelines before, ideally with GitHub Actions or Google Cloud Build.
  • Designed and built automated test frameworks, understanding challenges microservices pose for testing.
  • Familiar with Kubernetes beyond the basics, with prior job experience or certifications.
  • Experience in a startup environment, handling significant technical debt and undefined processes.
  • Able to take tasks from start to finish, including gathering requirements and implementation.
