About the role
- Craft intuitive tools that help mental health providers navigate insurance eligibility and claims processing with ease, while building supportive experiences for internal teams and clients
- Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and our Lead Product Designer across multiple squads to iteratively solve challenging problems in the insurance space.
- Lead the design of scalable, intuitive user experiences across devices that make it easier for providers to submit and track claims, and for clients to better understand their coverage.
- Apply service design and systems thinking to create higher-impact, cost-saving workflows that improve how Alma processes claims and how internal teams operate.
- Understand and advocate for user needs by driving research activities, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
- Share ideas early and often through sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and design reviews to foster alignment and collaboration.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and across teams, such as Ops, Product Marketing and Analytics, in a highly agile, iterative environment to deliver efficient and valuable solutions.
- Contribute to Alma’s design system and best practices, helping elevate product design as a function within the company.
Requirements
- You have 5+ years of experience in product design or user experience design, ideally within healthcare, fintech, or another highly complex domain
- You have a portfolio with case studies that showcase a deep understanding of user needs, your ability to translate complex systems into seamless experiences, and your creative problem-solving chops.
- You are a curious, ambitious, empathetic, and strategic designer who thrives in complexity and brings clarity to ambiguous problem spaces
- You are fluent in digital design and prototyping tools, especially Figma, and can confidently communicate ideas through flows, wireframes, and prototypes
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment, making decisions with imperfect information, and adapting and iterating quickly.
- You can context switch effectively, collaborating across multiple squads, stakeholders, and domains, and you enjoy building relationships to move work forward.
- You are passionate about user research, from moderating interviews to synthesizing insights, and you advocate for accessibility and usability in every solution.
- You are motivated by Alma’s mission and excited to help improve how mental health care is delivered and experienced.
