About the role
- Lead a team of reporting engineers: recruit, mentor, and foster a culture of continuous learning and self-service analytics
- Design, build, and optimise Power BI solutions, including Power Query, DAX, tabular modelling and visualization best practices
- Build and maintain robust tabular models to support self-service analytics and enforce row-level security
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure reliable data pipelines and integration
- Manage Power BI infrastructure: workspaces, deployment pipelines, capacity and licensing, gateway configurations and CI/CD
- Partner with business, product, and data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and promote BI adoption
- Implement reporting governance and compliance in collaboration with Data Governance, ensuring data quality and security
- Monitor and optimise Power BI report performance and user experience
- Act as "Tech Stewards" for the business and report to the BI Delivery Manager
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience with Power BI including Power Query, DAX, tabular model design, visualization best practices, and capacity management
- Strong knowledge of star/snowflake schemas, dimension/fact design, and row-level security for enterprise-scale tabular models
- Familiarity with Power BI service administration, deployment pipelines, CI/CD processes, gateway configurations, license management, and role-based access
- Experience working with data governance teams and tools (e.g., Ataccama) for managing data dictionaries, report catalogs, or business glossaries
- Proficiency in SQL
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages is a plus
- Experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse) or other cloud-based data platforms is beneficial
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing reporting or BI teams, including mentorship, performance management, and capacity planning
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Analytics, Data Engineering/Platform, Data Governance, Product, Business Teams)
- Experience managing multiple reporting initiatives simultaneously, prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, estimating project effort, mitigating risks, and staying within budget
- Microsoft Power BI certifications (e.g., DA-100 / PL-300) are highly preferred
- Lottery domain experience preferred
- Prior experience with enterprise-level BI implementations in fast-paced or startup-like settings is a plus
