- The Managing Engineer – SAP Financials serves as both a technical expert and people leader, overseeing the day-to-day development, support, and continuous improvement of SAP-related financial applications.
- This role will lead and collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure high-quality delivery and alignment with business goals.
- The position requires a strong well-rounded SAP technical leader to quickly learn the overall business and technology processes supported by the team while also eager to learn and grow skills within the SAP landscape consisting of SAP ECC, S/4, BTP (Business Technology Platform) and multiple SaaS solutions.
- Position requires hands on development expertise along with solid integration and security knowledge.
- Managing Engineers are expected to build relationships throughout the organization to ensure whole-company alignment and support for their goals, and vice-versa.
- The Managing Engineer designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems.
- They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software.
- They own and manage running their application in production, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products.
- Key Responsibilities: Frequently advise others on complex engineering matters.
- Build foundation to translate strategy into challenging and meaningful goals
- Manage teams that are responsible for strategic and critical pieces of architecture or provide functions that are of key strategic value to the business.
- Act as an authority in software best practices and be relied upon to propagate these in the broader organization, beyond their individual team.
- Leverage and influence key stakeholders
- Specific to SAP technical responsibilities: Designing, configuring, and implementing SAP solutions to meet complex business challenges.
- Working directly with business and technical teams in assessing and providing technology support
- Understanding multiple end-to-end business and technology processes
- Knowledgeable of technical details, integration, and functions of SAP and non-SAP systems
- Evaluating potential system enhancements and upgrades and influencing the product roadmap
- Identifying and implementing process improvements and product simplification opportunities
- Providing technical or functional leadership for team members
- Ensuring industry and technology best practices are followed for development.
- Lead the adoption and integration generative AI to enhance user experience, automate workflows, and drive intelligent decision-making across finance and operations.
- Design and implement AI-powered automation for repetitive SAP tasks, including invoice processing, journal entries, and reconciliation, using SAP BTP and intelligent robotic process automation (iRPA).
- Drive hyper automation initiatives by combining SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, and third-party automation tools to streamline end-to-end business processes.
- Evaluate and pilot next-gen SAP innovations, including Joule, SAP Graph, and SAP Build Process Automation, to continuously improve system usability and performance.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in SAP Financials, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or managerial role.
- (Preferred) You have strong understanding of SAP S/4 and the modern SAP ecosystem
- You have software configuration and development experience in areas of ABAP, CDS views, OData services, API’s and ABAP RESTful programming
- You have led end to end SAP S/4 data conversion activities, including data mapping, transformation, validation, and migration activities
- You have a good understanding of SAP Clean Core principals and extensibility patterns using SAP BTP
- You have experience working in SAP-Fiori/UI5, BRF+, Workflow
- You demonstrate a strong understanding of technology best practices in areas of development and security.
- You have experience in Test Driven Development (TDD), test automation and Agile SCRUM methodologies.
- You have excellent problem-solving skills and love to continuously learn.
- You are a team player and have well-developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- You are dedicated, self-directed, motivated, proactive, and inquisitive.
- Hands-on experience with SAP Joule or other generative AI tools integrated into enterprise platforms. (Preferred)
- Proven ability to design and deploy automation workflows using SAP BTP, iRPA, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration in SAP environments, including use cases for finance, procurement, and HR. (Preferred)
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms like SAP Build for rapid prototyping and process automation.
- Passion for exploring emerging technologies and applying them to solve complex enterprise challenges.
