About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build, own, develop, implement, and operate Allstate’s cloud application development and hosting platforms
Develop, build, administer, and deploy self-service tools enabling developers to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications
Anchor engineering teams through paired programming and collaboration
Lead engineering and the building of new platforms, products, and cloud services
Mentor the team and ensure SLAs are met for operational tasks and customer requests
Design, build, manage, and operate platform infrastructure and application environments with automation and infrastructure as code
Lead test-driven and continuous delivery engineering practices for infrastructure
Operate and automate the lifecycle of platform components and continuous delivery tools
Build and operate infrastructure-as-a-service layers supporting platform services
Develop monitoring solutions using Datadog, New Relic, Azure Monitor, and similar tools
Develop logging-as-a-service solutions based on open-source solutions
Integrate components and develop services focused on open source and low-friction developer interaction
Evaluate performance, demand, and capacity trends and establish scalability plans
Identify and troubleshoot availability and performance issues across hardware, operating environment, network, and application layers
Recommend and maintain technology-related policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need

7 or more years of experience (preferred)
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirements
Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and its relationship between Azure and M365
Deep understanding of Azure Management Groups and Policy
Deep understanding of Azure Regions, Availability Zones, VNets, Private Endpoints, and ExpressRoute
Minimum 5 years’ experience with Azure Cloud Services
Experience with GCP Compute, IAM, Networking, and image management
Experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Application Knowledge
Experience in testing and programming
Ability to mentor team members on extreme programming, product mindset, cloud/as-a-service approach, and infrastructure as code
Solid background in Software Development / Projects and building Cloud (Azure) Solutions
Willingness and competence to produce necessary changes in infrastructure and processes
Ability and willingness to work in an Extreme Programming environment and paired programming/engineering model
Ability to facilitate diverse teams, multitask, and work under pressure to meet aggressive schedule targets
Ability to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries
Ability to identify creative solutions for technical support issues
Ability to communicate effectively across diverse groups
Ability to present ideas and solutions clearly to various levels
Required background investigation
Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home
Reliable internet required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
