About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases
Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other affirmative actions
Develop litigation strategies and negotiate complex matters
Review case files and plan resolutions
Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs
Prepare for and conduct depositions and examinations under oath (EUOs)
Attend arbitrations, mediations, trials, and work with expert witnesses
Represent the company in court appearances (conferences, hearings) in State and Federal courts
Draft pre-trial and post-trial motions
Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
Federal Court Admission required upon selection for this role
7 or more years of experience
Federal Court experience
Ability to manage complex litigation
Strong research and writing skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
Demonstrates ethics and integrity
Insurance industry experience
Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
