About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases
- Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other affirmative actions
- Develop litigation strategies and negotiate complex matters
- Review case files and plan resolutions
- Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs
- Prepare for and conduct depositions and examinations under oath (EUOs)
- Attend arbitrations, mediations, trials, and work with expert witnesses
- Represent the company in court appearances (conferences, hearings) in State and Federal courts
- Draft pre-trial and post-trial motions
- Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- Federal Court Admission required upon selection for this role
- 7 or more years of experience
- Federal Court experience
- Ability to manage complex litigation
- Strong research and writing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
- Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
- Demonstrates ethics and integrity
- Insurance industry experience
- Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
