About the role
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare summaries and reports
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
- Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of statements, and maintain communication records
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings; may represent the company or clients in routine matters
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and assist in updating the legal team on potential impacts
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Georgia State Bar
- Must be commutable distance to courthouses throughout the Atlanta, GA area
- Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis
- Demonstrates strong time management skills and ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process
- Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions
- Well-versed in legal ethics and standards of professional conduct
- Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and settlement strategies
- Subject to background investigation; Allstate generally does not sponsor employment-based visas for this position
