About the role
- Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict
- Gather and organize documents, evidence, and legal research
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries and reports
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
- Interview clients and witnesses, maintaining communication records
- Attend court hearings and other legal proceedings as needed
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting cases
- Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar
- Entry-level to early career experience in trial advocacy
- Successful completion of courses in legal research, writing, and analysis
- Strong time management skills for balancing tasks and deadlines
- Capable of organizing case files and managing legal documents
- Skilled in client communication and maintaining records
- Well-versed in legal ethics and standards of professional conduct
- Fundamental negotiation techniques for client interactions and settlements
- Must be within commutable distance to courthouses in the Richmond area
