About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwrite new and renewal business to meet regional Line of Business targets, including global elements
  • Take ownership of large accounts and client relationships
  • Drive pricing strategies, terms and conditions negotiations, and capacity management
  • Evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation and interpret catastrophe modeling scenarios
  • Underwrite International Insurance Programs
  • Underwrite in line with governance frameworks, authorities, guidelines, rules, and principles
  • Ensure contract certainty at policy inception
  • Utilize global pricing tools
  • Arrange FAC Reinsurance before policy inception
  • Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued
  • Establish and maintain electronic or paper files for each risk and transaction
  • Support policy administration and credit control processes
  • Contribute to regional Underwriting strategy
  • Train, develop, and coach less experienced staff and Underwriters
  • Manage complex referrals and re-underwrite complex business
  • Delegate work as appropriate
  • Support acquisition and retention of business through client and producer negotiations
  • Liaise with MMC on market management initiatives
  • Represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market
  • Involve functional areas such as MMC, ARC, Claims, and Operations in underwriting
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, clients, risk managers, and other stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5–7 years of significant experience underwriting profitable business in the relevant Line of Business
  • Specialized expert understanding of sub-Line of Business products and portfolios
  • Recognized broker relationships at peer-group level and established market presence
  • Specialized understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscapes, including global elements
  • Good understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working in a complex, global matrix organization
  • Advanced ability to assess risk exposures and natural hazards relevant to the Line of Business
  • Ability to analyze performance against benchmarks and apply market, business, and customer knowledge
  • Advanced ability to design, develop, and implement robust policy wordings
  • Advanced understanding of the policy administration lifecycle, including information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation
  • Advanced ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources and proactively resolve issues
  • Advanced written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial
  • Advanced influencing skills
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
