About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform final checks of new protective equipment and instruments before service, correcting installation or operation issues
Troubleshoot protective equipment and associated circuits after undesirable operations, making repairs and corrections
Perform scheduled maintenance tests on electromechanical, electronic, and solid-state relays and related equipment
Test tone transmitting and receiving equipment and power-line-carrier relay equipment
Assist electrical technicians with load control, supervisory, telemetering, and other control equipment
Record test results and maintain associated records
Clean, adjust, and calibrate relays and solid-state devices
Correct wiring drawings and diagrams
Terminate and measure losses of substation fiber-optic cables
Perform other similar, related, or incidental duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate degree study in an engineering college preferred
4 years of technical experience in plant and substation electrical work
Valid driver’s license
Basic knowledge of electrical work
Ability to use a computer and associated software, including Windows, Excel, Word, and communication packages
Demonstrated mechanical ability
Aptitude to work alone in unsupervised situations
Resourcefulness in handling unusual technical situations
Physical ability to perform job duties
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment
Must successfully complete a background check
Must successfully complete a drug screen where applicable
