• Oversee end-to-end recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes.
• Manage employee relations matters, providing coaching, conflict resolution support, and policy guidance.
• Administer and process payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain and update HR policies and procedures; ensure organization wide understanding.
• Coordinate performance management processes, including goal setting and performance evaluations.
• Support compensation reviews ensuring internal equity.
• Administer employee benefits programs and collaborate with external vendors.
• Manage and maintain HRIS data and records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
• Support organizational learning, development, and DEIA initiatives.
• Foster a positive and inclusive staff culture by coordinating staff retreats and planning events.

• Attend BA trainings to learn nonprofit law and public presentation skills.
• Support trainers as needed (e.g. answer substantive questions, tech and logistic support, etc.).
• Research, draft, and respond to technical assistance questions under the supervision of BA attorneys.
• Monitor federal, state, and local legislation that affects nonprofit advocacy or issues that impact the progressive nonprofit sector.
• Track developments in nonprofit advocacy and write blog posts or articles on the topic.
• Attend training preparation calls, partnership meetings, and/or community convenings.
• Conduct research and analysis related to a broad array of public interest law and/or progressive issues.
• Research and conduct outreach to new audiences or nonprofits primarily working in AFJ’s priority issue areas.
• Work with AFJ’s Communications and Development teams to draft press releases, blog posts, web and social media content.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
