• Lead projects that focus on understanding wiring rules of the brain using high-throughput techniques.
• Design and analyze high-throughput barcoded connectomics and transcriptomics experiments.
• Coordinate with other teams to acquire data.

• Publish and present findings in peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.

Scientist I – Barcoded Connectomics

Program Manager

• Serve as the IMB Program Manager to facilitate accomplishing the ambitious scientific goals
• Work with scientific leadership on strategic planning and development of annual goals and program portfolios
• Drive, coordinate, and support the scientific goals of IMB projects using best practices and tools
• Create, maintain, and disseminate program and project deliverables and timelines
• Work with team members to identify options and implement mitigation strategies
• Organize and lead program and project meetings with clear agendas
• Enable communication between internal and external project stakeholders
• Partner with scientific staff to assist with development of competitive external funding applications
• Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Research and support post-award execution of externally funded efforts
• Work closely with and manage internal Allen Institute relationships with Finance, HR, Communications, and other Institute leaders
• Work closely with the legal team to ensure contractual obligations are understood and met

Scientific Program Manager – Integrated Metabolic Biology

• Execute research pipelines to characterize mitochondrial and metabolic phenotypes in human and mouse cells and tissues
• Bridge research collaborations with Brain Science, Cell Science, Neural Dynamics and Immunology accelerators
• Carry out and coordinate multiple projects in parallel

Scientist III – Integrative Metabolic Biology

Research Analyst

• Execute molecular and cell biology protocols, including flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, western blots, RNAseq and associated data quantification/analysis
• Assist with imaging experiments, including confocal and mass spec imaging and associated data quantification/analysis
• Human and mouse cell cultures
• Contribute to the development of new protocols as needed
• Present results and summarize progress to help frame internal decision-making
• Comply with SOPs, good laboratory practices, and regulatory requirements
• Adhere to a team schedule and individual time management
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation using established methods
• Train new lab members in molecular, cellular, and imaging techniques
• Other duties as assigned

Research Associate III – Integrative Metabolic Biology

• Execute research pipelines at the intersection of mitochondria and metabolism with innate immune signaling, cancer and cancer immune responses
• Participate in mechanistic studies of mitochondrial, metabolic and innate immune signaling in human and mouse cell lines in vitro and tumor studies in mice
• Collaborate with research teams that bridge research collaborations with the Cell Science and Immunology accelerators

Senior Scientist – Integrative Metabolic Biology

AI Research Scientist

• Develop, train, and evaluate large-scale AI/ML models across diverse biological data types.
• Investigate new modeling paradigms to address open biological research questions.
• Translate complex scientific questions into computational frameworks, experiments, and benchmarks.
• Assess model behavior and interpretability in scientific contexts.
• Design and run experiments at scale with benchmarking and model analysis.
• Build reusable modeling frameworks and document methods for reproducibility.

• perform experiments using in vivo electrophysiology, carefully controlled mouse behavior, and neural manipulations
• collaborate with scientists to develop and evaluate new behavioral tasks and associated methods for data collection, quantification, and analysis
• collaborate internally and externally to analyze physiology and behavior data

Research Associate II, In Vivo Electrophysiology, Behavior

• Collect in vivo electrophysiological, optogenetics, and/or optical physiological data from mouse cortex using cutting-edge recording systems
• Train mice to perform various foraging behavioral tasks
• Participate in lab maintenance and weekly tasks
• Carry out analyses to assess overall data quality and use this information to update and refine experimental protocols
• Use histological techniques to identify probe recording location

Research Associate I – In Vivo Electrophysiology, Behavior

• Maintain and propagate human cell lines, optimize and perform plasmid DNA transfections and viral transductions
• Execute molecular biology protocols, including molecular cloning, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, ddPCR, Illumina amplicon sequencing, RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq
• Assist in troubleshooting technical barriers in the generation of high quality NGS libraries, from library delivery to cell lines through NGS library generation
• Contribute to the development of new protocols as needed
• Present results and summarize progress to help frame internal decision-making
• Comply with SOPs, good laboratory practices, and regulatory requirements
• Adhere to a team schedule and individual time management
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation using established methods

Research Associate I

• Support projects aimed to classify cell types within the brain through generation of high-quality patch-clamp electrophysiology and transcriptomic data
• Execute a variety of laboratory tasks and experiments in a high-throughput laboratory
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Recognize process deviations and participate in troubleshooting
• Operate complex laboratory instrumentation
• Comply with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate laboratory documentation
• Work efficiently in a team environment
