About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and support Oracle E-Business Suite R12 databases and related components on Oracle Exadata hardware
  • Install, configure, patch and upgrade Oracle databases, Grid Infrastructure, ASM and related components
  • Implement and maintain Oracle Enterprise Manager monitoring, alerts, metrics, reports and dashboards
  • Design, document and operate backup, restore and disaster-recovery procedures using RMAN and Data Guard where applicable
  • Create, document, execute and automate cloning procedures for Dev/Test/QA/DR environments
  • Configure and tune database and application tiers for high-volume parallel concurrent processing
  • Configure and support model routing, additional application servers and concurrent-processing workload distribution
  • Perform performance monitoring, capacity planning, SQL tuning, instance-parameter tuning and resource management
  • Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative measures
  • Maintain database and Exadata security, access controls, patching cycles and compliance
  • Provide technical leadership, create runbooks and standard operating procedures, and train and mentor DBAs and system administrators
  • Collaborate with applications, network, storage, middleware, Security and Compliance teams on deployments, upgrades, DR tests, audits and major incidents
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
  • Lead database-lifecycle automation, architecture and design reviews for EBS/Exadata projects, upgrades and migrations
  • Evaluate Exadata features, Oracle releases and third-party tools and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Develop capacity-planning models, cost analyses, lifecycle roadmaps, playbooks and knowledge-base articles
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and continuous-improvement activities
  • Travel to data centers or other company locations as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 10+ years’ hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA & System Administrator supporting Oracle E-Business Suite R12
  • Proven experience with Oracle Exadata hardware, including installation, configuration, tuning, patching and troubleshooting
  • Strong experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
  • Expertise with RMAN backups, recovery scenarios and disaster-recovery concepts
  • Experience with Data Guard is a plus
  • Experience designing and executing EBS cloning procedures using Rapid Clone, AD utilities, RMAN and hot/cold clones
  • Experience configuring and tuning database and application tiers for parallel concurrent processing and Concurrent Manager optimization
  • Experience implementing and supporting model routing in EBS and configuring additional application servers
  • Strong knowledge of ASM, Grid Infrastructure, Oracle RAC, Linux for Oracle, and storage/networking concepts related to Exadata
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL and Bash shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with automation/orchestration tools beyond basic scripting
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, Chef or similar tools; CI/CD experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with cloud or hybrid Exadata-Cloud architectures, including OCI, AWS RDS or Azure
  • Proficiency in Python or Perl for complex automation tasks
  • Understanding of database security standards and best practices, including encryption-at-rest and key management
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating technical documentation and conducting knowledge transfer
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and travel to data centers or other sites as required
  • Oracle certifications are preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • Oracle Exadata Database Machine Administrator or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications are preferred
