About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, scopes of work, and construction drawings.
  • Perform layout of low-voltage systems according to project drawings.
  • Install, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling for access control systems.
  • Install speaker cabling and telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, and network devices.
  • Install network racks, cabinets, patch panels, cable management systems, raceways, conduits, sleeves, J-hooks, cable tray, and work area outlets.
  • Build, organize, and label MDF and IDF rooms.
  • Install access panels in existing buildings.
  • Perform fiber optic fusion splicing and testing.
  • Label all cables, ports, and equipment accurately.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues while minimizing project delays.
  • Produce accurate as-built documentation and closeout packages.
  • Lead installation crews on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate work with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Serve as the primary on-site customer contact for installation activities and field coordination.
  • Perform site surveys and evaluate existing conditions to develop installation strategies.
  • Manage project milestones and provide real-time progress updates.
  • Ensure installations comply with project requirements, quality standards, and schedules.
  • Complete daily reports, quality inspections, material inventories, and invoicing documentation accurately and on time.
  • Obtain customer acceptance upon project completion.
  • Participate in meetings, respond to RFIs, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Promote continuous improvement through project reviews and lessons learned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on low-voltage cabling experience.
  • Minimum 5 years leading commercial telecommunications or structured cabling installation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards and industry best practices.
  • Experience installing commercial structured cabling systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and scopes of work.
  • Experience building and organizing MDFs and IDFs.
  • Proficient in terminating patch panels, keystone jacks, RJ45 connectors, and fiber optic systems.
  • Experience with professional cable and fiber testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and labeling skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams effectively.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Willingness to attend training and maintain required certifications.
