About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and drive initiatives across Engineering, Quality Engineering, SRE, Release Management, Product, Architecture, and TPM teams
- Work with Product Engineering teams to deliver functional requirements and ensure features meet specifications
- Architect and review complex code, debug critical issues, design and evolve scalable APIs, and deliver robust platform services
- Lead, mentor, and develop Technical Engineering Managers and software engineering teams
- Build and review system architecture and design, influence the product roadmap, introduce new technologies, and own new projects
- Partner with Product, Security, Architecture, and Operations leadership to align engineering execution with business outcomes
- Identify organizational bottlenecks, reduce technical debt, and improve scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency
- Define and track engineering KPIs including deployment frequency, MTTR, test coverage, and SLA adherence
- Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, project priorities, and timely delivery of quality software
- Provide technical guidance on software development technologies, trends, and best practices
- Oversee on-call incidents, troubleshoot critical disruptions, and minimize downtime
- Drive adoption of modern development practices, tools, and frameworks
- Promote collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and experimentation
- Collaborate with Product Management on brainstorming and technical-debt requirements
- Report accomplishments, strategic goals, critical issues, and deliverable statuses to executive stakeholders
- Establish performance goals for direct reports
- Continue education in management philosophies, banking industry knowledge, and client-specific applications
Requirements
What you’ll need- 18+ years of experience in software development or similar engineering fields
- 8+ years managing engineering teams
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent technical experience
- Strong hands-on experience with several of: .NET, Java, C#, Linux container development, Kubernetes, MVC, SaaS, SOA, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, modern JavaScript frameworks, Entity Framework, and microservices
- Expertise architecting and delivering highly scalable, fault-tolerant SaaS software
- Experience with microservice-based architecture and cloud-native applications across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
- Deep understanding of operational excellence, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability frameworks
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, New Relic, and Haystack
- Experience with real-time and batch processing of extremely high-volume transactions
- Track record building enterprise-grade role-based access and entitlement systems
- Data-driven strategic decision-making and prioritization skills
- Experience building scalable, operationally efficient systems
- Experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams
- Ability to build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent work streams
- Extensive experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing large geographically distributed software engineering teams
- Ability to communicate with executive leadership, product management, and technical teams
- Experience with Lean-Agile methodologies such as Kanban or Scrum
- Preferred experience in fintech, digital banking, or highly regulated industries
- Experience with SaaS offerings in technology and financial industries
- Knowledge of treasury management, cash positioning, liquidity management, commercial payments, and reconciliation
- Familiarity with ISO 20022, BAI2, MT940, and EDI 820
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the US for full-time employment; employment sponsorship is unavailable
