About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the implementation and rollout of HR programs, policies and procedures, including talent acquisition, performance management and employee relations
- Act as a trusted partner to the management team by promoting exemplary HR practices that contribute to a respectful, inclusive and high-performing work environment
- Support managers in a unionized environment, including interpreting and applying collective agreements, employment standards and internal policies
- Serve as a point of contact for labor relations, including grievance management, investigations, disciplinary actions and preparation for negotiations, in collaboration with the HR team
- Develop and deliver effective onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a positive employee experience from the time of hire
- Advise and support managers and employees on various HR matters (conflict management, performance, attendance, workplace climate) and refer complex cases to centers of expertise when required
- Contribute to maintaining harmonious relations between the employer and the union
- Implement innovative HR initiatives that foster employee engagement, mobilization and retention
- Collaborate with managers to support talent development (workforce planning, career pathing, coaching)
- Actively participate in engagement initiatives and in monitoring workplace climate
- Serve as a liaison among employees, management, corporate HR and payroll to ensure effective communication and issue resolution
- Coordinate disability management and return-to-work processes for non-occupational absences, in accordance with applicable laws and policies
- Provide HR training to supervisors and employees and ensure training records are kept up to date
- Support HR business partners and Centers of Expertise (COEs) in analyzing HR trends and metrics
- Conduct exit interviews and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Develop, update and maintain site-specific HR policies, procedures and documentation in compliance with corporate requirements and Quebec legislation
Requirements
What you’ll need- University degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, industrial relations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an HR role, including experience in a unionized environment, preferably in the manufacturing sector
- Excellent knowledge of collective agreements and the ability to interpret and apply their provisions with rigor and consistency
- Ability to provide sound advice with tact, diplomacy and judgment, including in sensitive or high-pressure situations
- Demonstrated ability to coach, influence and support managers and employees at various levels
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict management skills, with a high level of professionalism and discretion
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with internal partners
- Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written)
