About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze and develop appropriate electrical designs solutions for new and existing buildings with emphasis on high performance design and sustainability.
- Ability to perform voltage drop calculations, short-circuit calculations, breaker coordination studies, Arc Flash studies, etc.
- Ability to size overcurrent protection and feeder sizes for various electrical equipment.
- Ability to specify manufacturer's equipment utilizing manufacturer catalogs (i.e., UPSs, Panels, Switchboards, Transformers, etc.)
- Assist the electrical department leadership with overspill of technical direction to the electrical team.
- Perform project management duties for small to medium sized projects acting as the lead engineer and project manager responsible for overall project delivery and budgets.
- Capable of in-field audits/investigations, surveying existing conditions, feasibility studies, basis of design reports, and recording information about building electrical components.
- Implement best practice engineering methods and produce drawings consistent with client requirements and standards.
- Assist with the preparation of project budgets and schedules.
- Implement ATCE quality assurance procedures during the electrical design process.
- Review product data submittals for conformance to contract documents.
- Coordinate, support, and communicate with colleagues across disciplines.
- Conduct strategic evaluations and propose innovative solutions for technical electrical design issues.
- Manage tasks as required to ensure work is completed on time and within the budget.
- Attend and actively participate in the design and construction project team meetings.
- Maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must exhibit technical competency and be able to design projects and direct/train/mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure that designs are compliant with Building/Energy Codes and LEED standards.
- Perform submittal reviews and ensures timely responses to RFIs.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in the design field.
- Exceptional management and supervisory skills
- Highly knowledgeable of codes, standards, and construction/engineering processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proclivity for catching the error and enacting appropriate changes.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with multiple project deadlines.
- Experience working on large-scale design and construction projects is highly desirable.
- Field experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and other engineering analysis and compliance software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
- LEED Accreditation.
