About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design and development of web and mobile ecosystems using Flutter across devices
- Direct implementation of WCAG-compliant interfaces
- Establish browser and mobile data collection for user-experience visibility, performance bottlenecks, and client-side bugs
- Manage application build, deployment, submission, release, and maintenance for the iOS App Store and Google Play Store
- Mentor the software team through code reviews and scalable coding best practices
- Collaborate with product and design teams to turn complex requirements into intuitive user interfaces
- Architect digital touchpoints across web and mobile platforms and balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution
- Advocate for end users and bridge UX design with technical feasibility
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may substitute for education
- 8+ years of related experience
- Must be located within driving distance from Baltimore HQ
- Must be fully vaccinated or in the progress of vaccination by the first day of employment, subject to policy exceptions
- Proof of vaccination or exemption required before start date
- Must not require visa sponsorship; Alertus does not provide visa sponsorship
- AI-first development and debugging using tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex
- Deep Flutter expertise for mobile and web applications with a track record of shipping high-quality products
- Advanced proficiency with BLoC, Riverpod, or Redux state management patterns
- Understanding of the Flutter rendering pipeline and experience using DevTools to diagnose jank, memory leaks, and overdraw
- Experience writing custom Method Channels for native iOS Swift and Android Kotlin APIs
- Experience architecting multi-package monorepos or federated plugins
- Advanced knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
- Experience managing iOS and Android submission, release, and maintenance processes
- Experience implementing frontend monitoring tools and browser-level data analysis
- Ability to lead complex projects and mentor software team members
- Desired: familiarity with native iOS Swift or Android Kotlin development
- Desired: experience migrating legacy systems or scaling frontend architectures
