About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and implement the Canadian HSE strategy aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements
Serve as the lead HSE advisor to the President – Canada and the executive team
Oversee the development, governance, and continuous improvement of contractor compliance and risk management standards
Ensure compliance with Canadian federal and provincial health, safety and environmental laws
Represent Veriforce Canada in industry forums, regulatory bodies, and sector associations
Drive audit programs, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with Sales and Client teams to support strategic commitments and complex risk discussions
Monitor competitor activity, regulatory developments, and emerging ESG trends
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing national HSE and compliance team
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence

Requirements

What you’ll need

Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in HSE within industrial, energy, construction, or other heavily regulated sectors
Bilingual (French and English)
Strong knowledge of HSE laws and regulatory frameworks at the federal and provincial levels in Canada
Experience implementing an HSE strategy at a national or multi-site level
Solid understanding of contractor management, supply chain risk, and compliance systems
Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and regulatory bodies
Industry-recognized certification (e.g., CRSP, CSP)
Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field
Willingness to travel nationally
Membership in CSSE or another recognized professional HSE association
