About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate compressors, pumps, pulverizers, boilers, turbine generators, switchyard equipment and auxiliary equipment
- Produce electricity, potable water, smelting steam and high-temperature water for the smelting plant
- Control electrical power generation to ensure continuous power supply for smelter operations
- Operate and maintain fuel systems, ash systems and demineralizer systems
- Monitor and maintain boilers, turbines, electrostatic precipitators, condensate systems, feed water systems and high-voltage switching equipment
- Perform other essential functions of the Power Plant Operator position
- Work shifts, including weekends
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of full-time light to heavy industrial or power industry work experience
- Ability to perform physically demanding work activities
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends
- Preferred experience with fuel systems, boilers, turbines, electrostatic precipitators, condensate systems, feed water systems and high-voltage switching
- Ability to monitor and maintain power plant systems
