About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure patient safety during MRI procedures, including pre-screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique
- Produce high-quality diagnostic MR images
- Operate multiple MR systems as required
- Communicate effectively with radiologists, team members, patients, and customers
- Address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflict through appropriate communication channels
- Train and orient new technologists, Patient Coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants
- Provide oversight of MR Technologist Assistants when required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform mid-day moves when required
- Travel locally and transport patients, including on mobile units
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Registered Technologist by the ARRT, NMTCB, or ARMDS
- MR registration required for technologists with MR Technologist Assistant oversight
- ARMRIT certification accepted as allowable by customer contract
- Magnetic Resonance registry required if Akumin is billing Medicare
- MR-registered technologist R.T. (MR) ARRT or ARMRIT
- Technologists registered in other modalities must have 3 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience or be currently enrolled for more than 6 months in an accredited MRI training program
- State license as a Licensed Radiologic Technologist or Magnetic Resonance Technologist, if applicable
- CPR Certification
- BLS upon hire; ACLS within 90 days of employment, if applicable
- Active State Driver’s License required for technologists performing mid-day moves
- COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen
- Local travel may be required
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Preferred: 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience
- Preferred: Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT
- Ability to work in a strong magnetic field and around blood/body fluids, infectious or communicable disease, noise, and environmental hazards
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, perform repetitive movements, see, speak, hear, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, carry, and lift or transfer non-ambulatory patients
