About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the integrity, timeliness and insight of Akcelo Group's financial reporting across its multi-entity, multi-currency structure
  • Lead three finance staff and provide review-and-approval control over finance operations
  • Run month-end close, consolidation, Flash reporting and financial statements for Australian entities
  • Consolidate Canadian and US financial results, including foreign currency translation and elimination entries
  • Prepare monthly accounts, quarterly QRF forecasts, annual budgets, cash flow forecasts and revenue forecasts
  • Coordinate operating budgets and analyse budget-to-actual variances
  • Prepare management reporting packs and provide commercial insights to account service teams
  • Review client rate cards, client and supplier contracts, freelancer requests and staffing needs
  • Identify and implement finance process automation and AI-driven improvements
  • Lead monthly revenue recognition, revenue journals, COGS journals, reconciliations and job write-offs
  • Review and approve full-time, casual and labour hire payroll runs and related payments
  • Oversee payroll tax, BAS, FBT, insurance renewals and workers compensation declarations
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and process Group and event recharges
  • Manage prepayments, accruals, treasury-policy deliverables and other accounting activities
  • Oversee UK month-end reporting, payroll, tax, payments, payables and client billing
  • Lead, manage and develop the finance team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CA or CPA qualification with a relevant degree in accounting, finance or commerce
  • Demonstrated experience leading a finance function within an agency environment
  • Strong understanding of how creative campaigns are developed and delivered
  • Significant post-qualification experience in senior finance roles
  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation
  • Strong technical accounting skills across revenue recognition, accruals, intercompany, payroll and Australian tax compliance (BAS, FBT, payroll tax, superannuation, workers compensation)
  • Confidence preparing and presenting forecasts, commercial plans and financial results
  • Proven experience managing, reviewing and developing a small finance team
  • Entrepreneurial flair and passion for new ideas, innovation, culture and modern brand experience
  • High attention to detail and sound judgement on controls and approvals
  • Ability to manage a demanding month-end calendar to deadline
  • Team-first collaborative approach
  • Willingness to grow with a rapidly expanding business
  • Hands-on proficiency with Xero
  • Experience with job/project management systems such as Productive and HRIS platforms is an advantage
