About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, validate, manage lifecycles, and document Akamai's server hardware platforms
Collaborate with vendors to evaluate pre-release hardware
Provide input on future product designs
Define and review architecture for next-generation platforms
Lead design reviews across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains
Negotiate requirements and trade-offs with product and business teams
Anticipate system-level challenges including thermal, signal integrity, and compliance issues, and propose solutions
Oversee multi-vendor engagements and align them with roadmap goals
Manage hardware failure escalations and coordinate resolutions with OEM/ODM suppliers for deployed systems
Drive post-deployment analysis and feed feedback into design
Design servers and develop firmware for Akamai's distributed platform

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle, including pre-production sample evaluation, mass-production validation, and leading comprehensive validation strategies
Expertise with server hardware components: Disk, RAM, NIC, and GPU, and their protocols (CompTIA Server+ level proficiency)
Expertise operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, and networking devices
Experience conducting comprehensive diagnostic and investigative analysis
Ability to develop advanced test frameworks and embedded software while supporting hardware-software integration
Over three years of programming experience in Python
Expertise with Linux operating systems
Understanding of core principles of reliability engineering
Expertise in shaping business outcomes through effective technical strategy
Ability to present and engage effectively with stakeholders
Openness to hybrid work, three days on-site per week, in Cracow
