About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, validate, manage lifecycles, and document Akamai's server hardware platforms
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate pre-release hardware
  • Provide input on future product designs
  • Define and review architecture for next-generation platforms
  • Lead design reviews across electrical, mechanical, and firmware domains
  • Negotiate requirements and trade-offs with product and business teams
  • Anticipate system-level challenges including thermal, signal integrity, and compliance issues, and propose solutions
  • Oversee multi-vendor engagements and align them with roadmap goals
  • Manage hardware failure escalations and coordinate resolutions with OEM/ODM suppliers for deployed systems
  • Drive post-deployment analysis and feed feedback into design
  • Design servers and develop firmware for Akamai's distributed platform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience across the full hardware development lifecycle, including pre-production sample evaluation, mass-production validation, and leading comprehensive validation strategies
  • Expertise with server hardware components: Disk, RAM, NIC, and GPU, and their protocols (CompTIA Server+ level proficiency)
  • Expertise operating lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, and networking devices
  • Experience conducting comprehensive diagnostic and investigative analysis
  • Ability to develop advanced test frameworks and embedded software while supporting hardware-software integration
  • Over three years of programming experience in Python
  • Expertise with Linux operating systems
  • Understanding of core principles of reliability engineering
  • Expertise in shaping business outcomes through effective technical strategy
  • Ability to present and engage effectively with stakeholders
  • Openness to hybrid work, three days on-site per week, in Cracow
