About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Advise business, procurement, and engineering teams on complex commercial contracting and infrastructure matters supporting Akamai's global platform
Draft, review, and negotiate data center leases, colocation, bandwidth, connectivity, interconnection, transit, peering, and hardware and software procurement agreements
Identify and advise on infrastructure transaction risks, including liability, indemnification, data security, compliance, operational dependencies, and other critical business considerations
Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation positions
Support strategic supplier relationships by managing contract interpretations, renewals, amendments, escalations, and disputes
Provide practical legal advice to senior stakeholders on transaction strategy, contracting processes, and risk management regarding global infrastructure
Monitor legal and market developments relevant to network infrastructure, data centers, telecommunications, hardware procurement, supply chain, and related technology transactions
Provide legal support for other commercial transactions as needed
Collaborate with network infrastructure strategy and operations, engineering, global procurement, information security, product development, and finance teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

JD from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing in at least one relevant U.S. state jurisdiction
8 years of legal practice
Relevant experience advising on technology, cloud, and network infrastructure legal issues
Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements
Experience with procurement, data center leases, colocation, network services, hardware/software, IaaS, and SaaS contracts
Experience dealing with global clients and international regulatory issues related to cloud services, content delivery networks, and Internet-related technologies
Analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple complex transactions and advise senior stakeholders clearly and pragmatically
Experience managing and coordinating outside counsel
Experience collaborating on cross-functional projects in a global technology environment
