About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and extend services processing large volumes of data and managing storage and retrieval
Participate in the design, development, improvement, operation, and automation of observability solutions for scalable and resilient services
Use Open Source solutions such as Kubernetes and Kafka alongside internal tools
Follow modern DevOps practices by building new services and enhancing existing ones
Test, profile, and monitor code performance
Diagnose system performance and reliability with Site Reliability Engineers
Contribute to internal research processes, methodologies, approaches, and best practices
Partner with product owners, development, and test groups to create rapid feedback and improvement cycles
Design, develop, and test applications and services for future Akamai products

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience programming and automating processes using Java and other programming languages
Knowledge of web technologies and frameworks such as Spring
Experience working with databases and SQL query syntax
Understanding of developing, managing, and deploying highly scalable applications and distributed systems
Understanding of modern observability
Experience developing software in GNU/Linux or Unix environments
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Interest in or experience with cloud deployment using Kubernetes, such as AWS or Linode
Interest in or experience with Kafka
