About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Blending department.
  • Plans, coordinates, controls, and reviews activities in the department to support production goals, maintain quality system, ensure safety of employees, and protection of the environment.
  • Leads, motivates, and develops team members.
  • Directs the day-to-day operations of the blending department.
  • Provides for the efficient processing of completed products.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and assigns work within the department.
  • Sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Prepares reports to monitor and manage departmental objectives and KPIs.
  • Adheres to budget requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and division goals.
  • Responsible for technical problem solving, operational improvements, and efficiency improvements to reduce operating costs.
  • Regularly checks, monitors, and records a variety of process operating conditions including unusual process conditions (appearance, sounds, vibrations, odors).
  • Recommends equipment maintenance and schedules preventative maintenance to maintain mixing and packaging productivity and efficiency.
  • Oversees documentation and records for the department.
  • Reviews batch production records for accuracy.
  • Ensures that all procedures described in SOPs are followed in accordance with company policies and GMP requirements.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 4-year degree in related field, or 5+ years of production experience in food/feed manufacturing environment is required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • High degree of scientific and technical proficiency with a willingness to troubleshoot issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.)
  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge to practical applications
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, maintaining a high level of morale and discipline
  • Required flexibility of work schedule and ability to work overtime as needed (occasional call-ins)
