Analyst

• Monitor and review AML alerts in line with prescribed procedures on a regular basis ensuring alerts are being reviewed timely and accurately.
• Investigate alerts to determine if there is a potential suspicious transaction involved.
• Follow the recommended standard investigation steps and assess any unusual aspects of transactions.
• Assess transactions in the context of previous transactions and the client’s business/purpose of the account.
• Assess the relevance of the geographies of remitters and beneficiaries.
• Escalate in line with procedures where there are grounds for suspicion or need for guidance.
• Create and maintain accurate and concise records of all investigations including rationale for decisions.
• Build understanding of customer profiles highlighted through transaction monitoring.
• Assist with preparing Suspicious Activity Reports and departmental management information reports.
• Assist management with creating, testing and maintaining transaction monitoring rules and department procedures.
• Provide advice and support to business units on risk identification from transaction monitoring trends.
• Perform other associated duties to meet departmental responsibilities and goals.
