About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, direct, and motivate Branch, Administrative, Operating, and Sales associates across the District
  • Achieve safety standards, top-line growth, EBITDA performance, and operational excellence
  • Execute plans and strategies to meet and exceed customer needs
  • Maintain full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for branches and territory
  • Manage the sales force for organic top-line growth and key customer accounts
  • Manage branch assets and ensure speed to market
  • Execute Core Strategy I and II activities throughout the District
  • Ensure branch planners are in place and executed
  • Maintain stocks of gases and hard-goods to ensure high fulfillment
  • Ensure branch and field sales associates are trained and focused on customer needs
  • Improve accuracy and SAP proficiency
  • Optimize profit margins and maintain operating expenses in line with goals and plans
  • Execute strategic pricing targets
  • Support transition of targeted customers to the Total Access sales program
  • Ensure collaboration, teamwork, and communication throughout the District
  • Ensure a safe environment at all Airgas facilities
  • Travel within the District daily and visit Airgas and customer sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of three years of increasing responsibility in a business-to-business sales-related or sales operations position
  • Prior experience managing a team and a P&L, or comparable distribution-industry experience involving gases, welding supplies, or similar industrial products
  • Track record of achieving profitable sales growth
  • Strong leadership and team-development capabilities
  • Ability to analyze business opportunities and develop successful sales strategies
  • Knowledge of business and accounting concepts, including ROI, P&L statements, balance sheets, interest and leasing calculations, and margin responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, communication, presentation, and proposal skills
  • Ability to develop action plans and ensure accountability and follow-through
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Ability to travel within the District 75% of the time
  • Minimal overnight travel
  • Reliable, appropriate transportation
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and motor vehicle
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and traverse office/manufacturing locations
